Growing and spreading the Games for the SDGs

Updated: Jun 15, 2023

As most of you know, Progress Namibia started and has been leading the "Games for the SDGs" series, which has been running since the end 2016, and has been funded by the Hanns Seidel Foundation Namibia since 2018. We always wanted it to be a youth-led initiative, so we are pleased that we have trained 9 young Namibians in facilitating the games and the depth dialogue de-brief sessions during a Training-of-Facilitators workshop on 22 and 23 January 2019. The nine facilitators chosen were those who have participated in the games over the years, with some of them also playing background facilitation roles.

The Namibian Youth Coalition on Climate Change (NYCCC) will be taking leadership over the games this year, with the kind financial support for six games to be hosted at the House of Democracy coming from the Hanns Seidel Foundation.

The NYCCC will also be running mobile games; this means they can bring the games to you! They will be doing this on-demand, but also taking games to schools and learning centres. The games are generally geared towards the SDGs, but can be aligned to any sustainability-related theme.

For more information you can have a look at our reports from 2018 and 2019 on how the games are run and why games as a learning tool can be very powerful!

If you want a mobile game to come to you, please contact Maria from NYCCC at erikamariah42@gmail.com. See below the first game to be hosted at the House of Democracy this year!
